Hello Again to ALL the members of this WONDERFUL community...Old and New!

I have decided that I am going to make another go at getting healthier.  I know it seems like a cop out, but I generally give up on myself due to the lack of caring.  I tend to see others enjoying the foods they love and tend to say to myself, "well, if everyone else is doing it, I am not going to be different and eat to live, I will live to eat."

I am tired of this mentality.  I have always been tired of this mentality, but always given up because it was easier/less expensive to eat the things that are not so healthy for you vs. sticking to my guns and sacrificing what I have to (mainly my cigarette money) to begin leading a healthier life.

I recently graduated from a local tech school with a Diploma in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork Technology and plan to go back within the next year or so to become a Holistic Health Practitioner.  I feel that I could not lead by example if I continue on this horrific roller coaster of eating/not caring about myself.

While that statement makes it sound like I am doing this for others, I am truly doing this for me.  I will be healthy, I will be fit, I will  live life to the fullest each day and enjoy all the gifts that life has to offer.

I know full well I will not be able to give up all of my vices of comfort food, smoking, and  sitting on my butt all at once.  So I am taking smaller steps to reach the goals I have lain before myself, for myself.

I have re-affirmed and reset my goals on SparkPeople (I have the same user name there as I do here) and I am aiming for smaller, much more attainable goals.  By doing this, I am assuring myself that I am going to reach every goal I lay out for myself.

My first set of goals are as follows (starting Monday April 30):
  • Lose 10 lbs by June 1, 2007 (going from 301 lbs to 291 lbs) [coincidentally, this is the day before my 30th birthday]
  • Listen to an upbeat, motivational song each day
  • Track my daily calorie intake
  • Track cardio minutes
  • Track other exercises
  • Drink at least 10 cups of water daily
  • Walk Daily (for fitness & mental clarity)
  • Eat a High Fiber/Protein Breakfast Daily
  • Avoid people who may talk negatively about my goals, or who make it difficult to pursue my goals through their actions
So, I look forward to sharing with all of you, and am looking forward the the motivation I get daily from this community.

Well, this community is quiet....but it doesn't really matter to me. 

I figured I would post my progress thus far.

SW: 296.2 lbs
CW: 295.0 lbs

Change: -1.2 lbs

How Do I Feel:  I am starting to feel a little better with each ounce that comes off and am more closely monitoring what goes in my mouth.  I am excited to try new things (not that I have the money to most of the time).  I am thinking of cutting out red meat all together.  And maybe eliminated pork....and all pork products.  Hmmm.....things to think about.
I want to start trying different fish, but I am scared as I am not a big fan of fishy tasting fish.   I have also thought of going Vegetarian, but I love my chicken and turkey a bit too much.

I am also afraid of TOFU too, the only person I know that can can get me to eat TOFU is popicn.  But then again, he can get me to eat just about anything because he is such a phenomenal cook.

So, I really want to jump start my weight loss and am thinking of doing a detox eating plan for a little while. The plan I have is up to 30 days. What do you think?

This is cut for length purposes. There is more to this plan, which I will post if anyone wants to see it.
